Until FilledReporting to the Associate Vice President, Business Operations, participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures effective achievement of objectives.
Responsible for managing and directing a large department or organization-wide program(s).
As the UC ANR Controller, this position also has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the systemwide University Controller in all matters related to financial controls and financial reporting policies.
Reviews and approves recommendations for operational planning and control.
Erroneous decisions would have a serious impact on the overall success of department, division, or organization.
Is responsible for risk management, and financial information and reporting.
By virtue of the office, the ANR Controller holds several UC titles and reporting relationships and serves on several standing systemwide senior level groups.
Additionally, the Controller is ANR's Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer (CECO) and serves also as the Locally Designated Official (LDO) for all whistleblower-related matters.
The Controller has lead responsibility for organization-wide business services, compliance and control in UC ANR.
This includes primary responsibility for Regents-based compliance, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Controls Initiative programs and methodologies, coordination with Office of General Counsel and with the University Auditor for all legal and audit matters, and management of whistleblower complaints as the LDO.
In the business services area, the Controller is responsible for managing organization-wide functions and key personnel in the following areas:
Business Contracts and Administrative Policy, Financial Services, Risk Management, and Environmental Health and Safety.
A hybrid (on-site/remote) work schedule can be arranged based on approval of supervisor.
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
The home department for this position is Immediate Office of the Controller and Business Services.
While this position normally is based at 1111 Franklin Street, Oakland, CA, this position is eligible for hybrid flexible work arrangements, for applicants living in the State of California, at this time.
Please note that hybrid flexible work arrangements are subject to change by the University.
Pay Scale:
$124,900/yr.
to $203,500/yr.
This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
